Hafnarstræti 16 - fornleifakönnun During the renovation of an old house in Hafnarstræti 16 cultural layers were discovered at its foundations in two places, along the southern side and under the northwestern corner. Only the areas at risk was excavated. The layers under the NW corner are probably the remains of an old surface outside the house, most likely prior to 1824 when the house was built at its current length. Old walls under the S-side of the house probably belong to its predecessor, most liklely a house that was in use between 1790 and 1824.
