Fornleifakönnun á lóðinni Hásteinsvegi 8, Stokkseyri Prior to construction work two trial trenches were excavated in a mound in Stokkseyri, thought to be a possible farm mound. Extensive cultural layers were revealed, all of which postdate tephra from Katla 1500 AD. In the uppermost layers the remains of a concrete foundation was found. This is probably the old farmmound of Vestra-Íragerði, first mentioned in the early 18th century.
