Frumrannsókn menningarminja í Narfastaðaseli
Five trial trenches were excavated in Narfastaðasel to value the nature and date of the archaeology. Written sources first mention a stable farm in 1836 but it was unknown whether the site was settled before that time. Four out of five trenches revealed archaeological features of some sort - two structures and a charcoal pit. Three of them predate tephra from 1300 but the homefield boundary on the other hand is later and most likely dates to the 19th century.
